Photo of the Year 2012 will be similar to past events, with a few key differences:
Step 1: Photo submissions take place from November 1, 2012 through January 10, 2013.
Step 2: Submitted photos will be reviewed by our esteemed judges on January 12, 2013.
Step 3: Photos that make the cut will be posted for online voting between January 13 through January 27, 2013.
Step 4: Photo of the Year 2012 will be revealed at the gallery opening on February 9, 2013!
Judging:
All POTY photo submissions received will be compiled in random order and viewed by an impartial and unbiased panel of judges organized by Friends of Outdoor School. Their selection process will result in the Top 100 semi-finalist photographs for Photo of the Year and 10 semi-finalist photos each in the categories of Outdoor School, Youth, Professional, and Portland. These semi-finalist photographs will then be posted to the Photo of the Year web site, at which time online voting is launched to the world.
Voting:
Visitors to the website between January 13 and January 27, 2013 may vote for their top 10 favorite photos in the Top 100 and their number 1 favorite photo in each of the four other categories. The online voting will conclude at midnight on Sunday, January 27, 2013. The winning photo and first runner up from each of the four categories as well as the Top 100 overall winner, as determined by the online voting, will be printed, framed, and unveiled at the Photo of the Year Gallery Opening on February 9, 2013.
Prizes:
Yes! We have prizes! Each category winner (Top 100, Portland, Outdoor School, Youth & Professional) will all receive a cash prize! Both the first place Top 100 and Professional winners will each win $200, the first place Youth, Portland & Outdoor School winners will each win $100. And each winner and first runner up from each category will also receive their winning photograph professionally printed.
